A Heartwarming Update From Phoenix's Guardian

We received the following message as an update from an OPHS alumni, Phoenix, and it absolutely warmed our hearts, and we figured we’d share
“I wanted to give a huge shout-out to the amazing staff at OPHS today, July 20, the third anniversary of the day we officially adopted our beloved “Phoenix”!
Phoenix came to OPHS in January 2023 as a 1-year-old German Shepherd stray, transferred from a high-kill shelter. She arrived sick, very thin, carrying several bullet fragments in her body, and very pregnant, giving birth just days after she got there. Because of everything she’d been through, the OPHS staff named her “Phoenix,” determined to help her rise from the ashes of such a rough start to life. And rise she did.
We fell in love with her the moment we met her. We began fostering her in mid-April 2023, and after she was spayed, we made the adoption official on July 20, 2023.
Three years later, Phoenix is an absolute joy. She has blossomed into the sweetest, most loving dog we could have asked for. She’s even become best buddies with our 12-year-old rescue, Ike. The two of them love playing together and keeping watch over the yard as a team protecting us from all the dangerous deer that walk through our property .
We are endlessly grateful to the OPHS staff who took Phoenix in, nursed her back to health, got her into a forever home with us, and found homes for her puppies. Thank you for the incredible, compassionate work you do every single day.”
We’re so grateful Phoenix found an incredible family to spend the rest of her days with!
