OPHS Financials and Commitment

The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society (OPHS) Board of Directors and management are dedicated to ensuring that every dollar donated is used effectively to support our mission. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, we maintain the highest standards of accountability to responsibly manage the resources entrusted to us by our donors, partners, and the community.

OPHS financial practices provide clear and accurate reporting of income, expenditures, and overall financial health. We adhere to strict accounting standards and undergo regular, periodic audits to maintain our commitment to financial integrity

A few noteworthy facts about our fiscal history and current financial status include:

  • OPHS is debt free. The Kitty City (located at 91 S Boyce Road) and Bark House (1743 Old Olympic Highway) properties, along with all their contents, equipment, and vehicles are owned by OPHS free-and-clear with no mortgages.

  • OPHS expenditures are carefully budgeted within the limits of operating funds/cash on-hand.

  • OPHS maintains a modest investment portfolio to assure financial stability.

  • Audits are performed regularly by outside professionals, as required by Washington State RCW 19.09.075, in compliance with standard financial practices.

Financial Reports

OPHS’s US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form 990 tax filings and annual financial reports and are publicly available. These documents detail our financial activities for each year, including revenue, expenses, and program investments.

The IRS Form 990 is an annual information return that most federally tax-exempt organizations must file with the IRS and must be made publicly available. This Form 990 provides the IRS and the public with confirmation of our organization’s financial health, programs, and compliance with tax regulations.
