Feb Update

Clallam County Friends:

Time to break out the champagne (or the dog equivalent)!

After intensive self-reflection, consultation with staff and outside experts, trouble-shooting a seemingly endless series of problems, and a WHOLE lot of hard work by staff, volunteers, Board members, and incredibly talented contractors, I am pleased to announce that…

The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society’s ‘Bark House’ will once again be open to receive surrendered and stray dogs starting on Saturday,

March 1, 2025!!!

We’re inviting everyone in the community to join the celebration. C’mon down on Saturday, March 1st between 12:30p and 4:00p and experience the new and improving Bark House!

We want the public to know that we’re starting out slowly, testing new protocols, facilities, and staff. Initially, we’ll only care for a maximum of 10 dogs, but, as we settle in and our confidence grows, we’ll gradually increase that number, hopefully, beginning sometime in April.

If you’re having difficulties keeping your pet, surrender should be your absolute last option. OPHS can offer food and other items if that would help you keep your beloved pet. You can also consider the other alternatives listed on the OPHS ‘Surrender Request’ page. However, if you feel that you’ve exhausted all other options, we ask that you scroll to the bottom of this ‘Surrender Request’ page and complete the surrender form.

PLEASE NOTE: We cannot accept any stray or surrendered animal unless you’ve completed the surrender form and scheduled an appointment date with us ahead of time. After that, we promise to take the best care of your pet or stray until we can find them a loving home.

On behalf of our staff and, most importantly, our furry charges at Bark House and at Kitty City, please accept our heartfelt thanks for your continued support in all its forms (as a volunteer, as a prospective Board member, and as a donor). Without you, none of this would be possible.
